Investing.com– Investors were seen sharply scaling back bullish positions on U.S. stock indexes over the past week, specifically the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100, as sentiment was battered by signs of sticky inflation and rising geopolitical tensions, Citi analysts said in a note.
Anurag Singh advises against panic selling in Indian markets, recommending holding cash due to uncertain valuations. He says Indian and all other emerging markets face a little bit of danger because whenever oil spikes, dollar flight happens. But, he says, market recovery is anticipated sooner with strong back channel talks despite geopolitical risks.
“Markets are playing blind man\’s bluff and they are just selling off first and then asking questions, says Ajay Bagga. Do not try to time this market. We do not know where it will go and how far? Both are very strong missile-based powers and this could increase in scope very fast. So, it is very difficult to price this.”
The Nifty fell 246.9 points, or 1.1%, to 22,272.50. The Sensex declined 845.12 points, or 1.14%, to 73,399.78 in a volatile trading session that saw mixed responses across the Asia-Pacific to this weekend\’s Iranian drone attacks on Israel. China advanced 1.26%, Hong Kong fell 0.73%, South Korea declined 0.42%, and Taiwan dropped 1.38%.
