India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.56%

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Banking sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.62%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 3.05% or 128.65 points to trade at 4,348.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) added 1.65% or 36.20 points to end at 2,230.25 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 1.54% or 4.30 points to 284.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which fell 3.61% or 52.95 points to trade at 1,415.20 at the close. LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) declined 3.05% or 146.65 points to end at 4,668.50 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 2.97% or 45.70 points to 1,494.20.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 1.66% to 2,231.00, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.40% to settle at 3,652.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.18% to close at 1,512.65.

The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 3.58% to 1,415.80 in late trade, LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which lost 3.06% to settle at 4,666.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.01% to 1,492.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1373 to 795 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2211 rose and 1464 declined, while 107 ended unchanged.

Shares in Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) rose to all time highs; rising 3.05% or 128.65 to 4,348.00. Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.54% or 4.30 to 284.15.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.18% to 12.61.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.13% or 3.20 to $2,386.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.32% or 0.27 to hit $85.14 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.21 to trade at $89.89 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.12% to 83.61, while EUR/INR rose 0.18% to 88.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 106.07.
